I Am A Star remains a clear $2.70 favourite in 2016 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Sezanne ($3.60) and Exocet ($9).

Will I Am A Star justify favouritism and win the 2016 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic, or will one of her rivals post an upset?

1st

I Am A Star ($2.70)

I Am A Star savaged the line for second in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) a fortnight ago, and it is tough to picture her not winning when stepping back in class to the 2016 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic on Saturday. Returning to the paddock after posting a maiden black type win in the Group 3 National Stakes (1200m) on May 21st, the I Am Invincible filly resumed this time for an impressive win in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) on August 13th. Progressing to fifth in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) and fourth in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) in her only other start prior to her most-recent second, I Am A Star could very well receive the run of the race on Saturday from barrier 2.

2nd

Sezanne ($3.60)

Sezanne has progressed through the grades well this season and is arguably offered her best opportunity to post a maiden black type win to date in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic. Resuming for consecutive wins in the More Than Just Winning Maiden (1250m) and TAB.com.au BM67 (1200m), Sezanne ran a credible fourth in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1400m) before running on for third in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) most recently on October 1st. The filly will undoubtedly require luck in running from barrier 15 but will be partnered by Hugh Bowman.

3rd

La Luna Rossa ($9.50)

A Group 1 winner in her native New Zealand, La Luna Rossa failed to handle the late pace in the Thousand Guineas last start but is offered a good opportunity to atone in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic from barrier 4. Capping a strong autumn campaign with a reasonably comfortable win in the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), the daughter of Written Tycoon filly resumed this time for second in the Listed Fillies Stakes (1200m) at Wanganui before arriving in Australia for second in the Thousand Guineas Prelude.
