2014 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic Betting Update

October 23rd, 2014

A classy field of just nine three-year-old fillies has been confirmed for this weekend’s Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m), offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning bet.

While unable to handle the late pace despite jumping as favourite in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) last time out, Lumosty is sure to respond well to the step-back in class this weekend and has maintained favouritism in Fillies Classic betting markets; currently available at odds of $1.85 at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Securing one race win and a further three minor places from her five competitive appearances on course so far, Lumosty immediately stamped her claims as one to watch upon debuting in autumn; finishing second in Eloping in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) and third in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m).

Returning for a close second in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) and a nine length victory in a minor over 1400m prior to the Thousand Guineas, the Fastnet Rock filly has been confirmed to be partnered by in-form jockey Nicholas Hall and will leave from the ideal barrier 2 in the 2014 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic.

Cutting in from opening odds of $5.50 to current register as clear market mover and outright second-favourite for success at a quote of $4.50, Tahni Dancer is likely to receive the run of the race from barrier 4 in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic and will be partnered by veteran hoop Glen Boss.

Claiming one win and finishing in the places twice over her short six race career so far, Tahni Dancer  was unable to make much of an impact in her debut campaign; finishing sixth in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) and returning to the paddock following a forgettable run for seventh in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m).

Running a credible third in the Simpson Construction Plate (1200m) first-up this time, the Sebring filly charged home late to secure her maiden race win in a minor event over 1200m on September 14th and has since finished second in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) and a fighting fifth in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently offered at odds of less than $10 for success in Fillies Classic betting markets, Little Hottie is yet to experience much more than a sprinkling of bets for success this weekend but has maintained status as sole occupant of the third line at even $6 odds.

Drawn well in barrier 5, Little Hottie has appeared on track just twice so far; undoubtedly highlighted by an impressive victory in the Woodside Park Stud Maiden Plate (1450m) on debut in September.

Unlucky to be blocked for a run and seventh in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) last time out, Little Hottie has been confirmed to be partnered by jockey Dean Yendall and is sure to relish the return to fillies’ company.
