A capacity field of 16 has been confirmed to line up for this weekend’s 2014 Group 3 South Australian Fillies Classic (2500m) at Morphettville Racecourse, offering punters several key opportunities to place a winning bet.
Having returned to racing in strong form this year, Rezoned is currently outright favourite and clear market mover in betting fields for success in the 2014 SA Fillies Classic (2500m) at a quote of $3.80, ahead of Every Faith ($4.40), Artistic Lass ($5.50) and Navajo Run ($8).
Will Rezoned justify her resounding support from punters and win the 2014 SA Fillies Classic, or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Artistic Lass ($5.50)
Securing two wins and five places from 20 competitive starts to date, Artistic Lass has returned to racing in competitive form this season and offers punters exceptional value for money at current $5.50 odds. Steadily building to the task over 12 appearances this preparation alone, the Myboycharlie filly was disappointing when ninth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) on April 5th, but was more unlucky than anything when finishing seventh in a fanning finish in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) last time out. Allocated the ideal barrier 6, Artistic Lass has been confirmed to be partnered by regular jockey Jason Holder in the SA Fillies Classic and will be particularly difficult to beat if in prime position rounding onto the final straight.
Claiming two wins and a place from just 10 starts so far, Rezoned has arguably hit career best form over her current preparation, and while finishing a disappointing 11th in the Australasian Oaks last time out, displayed an impressive turn of foot to overcome poor position in both the Highview Accounting Services Maiden (1600m) and Polytrack Fillies (1600m) in her two appearances prior. Allocated barrier 8, Rezoned has been confirmed to be partnered by in-form jockey Mark Zahra and is more than a chance in South Australia this weekend.
Transit Moscow ($26)
While yet to line up for an appearance at Group level, Transit Moscow has more than earned her place in the final field for the 2014 SA Fillies Classic, and arguably offers punters the best value for money for success at current $26 odds, or $6.90 for a place. Steadily building to the task over four race starts this preparation, the Fastnet Rock filly finished fifth in both the Procon Developments Plate (1300m) and Centrebet Plate (1600m) and claimed a hard-fought second in the GRC Event Centre Maiden (1900m) before breaking through for a maiden race win when strolling home to finish nearly five lengths in the clear in the Thomson Club Maiden (1900m) last time out. Confirmed to be partnered by talented jockey Dean Yendall, Transit Moscow is a fighting chance in the SA Fillies Classic having drawn the ideal barrier 2.
