2011 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic Nominations

March 1st, 2011

The 2011 Group 2 Fillies Classic will run at Moonee Valley this Friday night.

The race is for three-year-old fillies with set weights over a 1600m distance and worth $200,000.

It’s looking like a second chance event for many of the horses which lost out to Southern Speed last start in the Mitty’s Vanity.

In fact seven of the nine starters from the 2011 Mitty’s Vanity have nominated for this event.

They include Do Ra Mi which ran second in the race just in front of the third placed Count Your Fingers.

Of the unplaced horses looking for a change of fortunes this Friday night are the highly fancied Shamrocker and Absolutely as well as Becerra, Bride Salma and Precious Lorraine.

Horses that do well in this race will probably look to either the South Australian Oaks during the Adelaide Racing Carnival or even the Group 1 Australasian Oaks.

With the change in scheduling this year it could also be a prime lead up event to the Group 2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington the following Saturday.

The 2010 Moonee Valley Oaks was won by My Emotion.
